In this knowledge clip, we will tell you all about sustainability within the aviation sector. Can we shift to a sustainable alternative instead of fossil kerosene? We will explain what Sustainable Aviation is and what it makes sustainable. We will explain the term SAF and the 3-tiered approach of SkyNRG.

After listening to this knowledge clip, you will be able to answer the following questions: 

SAF stands for sustainable Aviation Fuels. It is a substitute for fossil jet fuels, being produced from sustainable resources, instead of being refined from petroleum. These resources can be from biological origins or from non-biological origins. They act like a ‘drop-in’ fuel and thus can be mixed with fossil kerosene, without having to change existing infrastructure.

  • Certifying their operations by the Roundtable of Sustainable Biomaterials 

  • Being structurally advised by an independent Sustainability Board 

  • Tracking the latest developments and thinking on sustainability through a global NGO network
