The plant length is preferably 220 cm or slightly more. Special harvesters mechanically cut the stalks into two pieces of about 1 m and lay them parallel on windrows in the field. This way, the stalks can be processed on a flax scutching line (§7§7.1.1) after retting (§5§5.4).
