2.8 A remark on epigenetics (2024)
The expression of genes might be influenced by environmental effects. This means that an allele will not be expressed or will only be expressed when a certain environmental factor is present. This might be e.g. a feed ingredient or a the behavior of human or, more likely, from other animals in the group. Through such triggers an allele can be blocked or just stimulated to function. The knowledge is just in its infancy and looks very complicated. Therefore we will not pay more attention to this phenomenon, but is is good to keep in mind that it exists.
