12.4.1.2 Genomic selection (2024)

In the past the CRV breeding program was fully directed towards the production and selling of semen of daughter proven bulls. With genomic selection the selection interval is halved. E.g. the generation interval of sires was approximately 5,5 years in that system. Nowadays, with genomic selection this generation interval is decreased to 2,7 years. The potential of genomic selection is outlined in the picture below:
