2.3.3. Malnutrition across socio-economic groups

Socio-economic factors like income or education level are associated with undernutrition: the higher the socio-economic status, the less undernutrition is observed. Still, in people with a higher socio-economic status, we also see undernutrition. Overweight and obesity are generally observed in wealthier populations, however in some countries it is the reverse. Determining factors for malnutrition are different in each country or setting.
